Ingredients

  • 150 grams tamarind deseeded
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. First, we need to clean the tamarind and remove the seeds and fibers from the whole tamarind we buy from stores.
  2. In the instant pot inner pot add around 150g of tamarind and add around 2 cups of water. Make sure the tamarind is fully immersed in water at the same time no excess water.

  3. Place the inner pot in the instant pot and turn on the instant pot to manual or pressure cook mode with cooking time as 6 minutes and do a natural release.

  4. Take the tamarind paste and pass it thru' a strainer and discard the waste or take the tamarind paste in a high-speed blender like Vitamix or Blendtec and make a fine tamarind paste.

  5. Cool the tamarind paste completely and store it in a clean dry jar.

Recipe Notes

Do's and dont's while making tamarind paste :

Please don't store or cook tamarind in copper, aluminum vessels it's very unhealthy and harmful to health.

If you are grinding in a high-speed blender try to remove all the seeds or buy seedless tamarind.

Don't store tamarind paste in a plastic container it will get spoiled soon. You can use this tamarind paste in any cuisines like Indian, thai, Chinese, etc.

Always use a clean and dry spoon when you use the tamarind paste
