Easy and perfect sona masoori rice

Here is the easy and quickest way to cook sona masoori rice at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sona masoori rice
  • 2-2.5 cups water

Instructions

  1. Take one cup of sona masoori rice and wash it thrice to remove the excess starch.
  2. Add 2.5 cups of water to the rice.
  3. I always soak the rice for 15 to 30 minutes before cooking.
  4. Turn on the instant pot and add one cup of water to the inner pot. Place the rice bowl inside the pot.
  5. Since this is pot in pot method, I’m adding some dal(lentils) to make sambar. So I’m placing another bowl on top of it with the lentils and water.
  6. Close the lid.
  7. Pressure cook for between 9-10 minutes. Let the pressure release naturally.
  8. Your instant pot sona masoori rice is ready to serve.

Recipe Notes

If you doing some variety of rice using Sona masoori rice. Please do a quick release and add a few drops of oil while cooking . This will give you a perfect texture.

Similarly, the water quantity will differ as per the age of the rice and the brand. So try the water quantity as I mentioned above and adjust the water quantity accordingly.
