The instant pot steamer basket is my new favorite tool in my kitchen to make instant pot steamed vegetables. As a family, each and every one of us has a different liking towards food. It is too much work sometimes for me to cook a variety of food.
Recently when I was shopping at kohl’s found this stainless steel steamer basket instant pot with a partition from Food network which fits my instant pot perfectly. This has three partitions which help me to steam three different food at the same time. The divider is removable so you can cook one item in a large quantity. Here you can see I’m cooking three different vegetables at the same time and nothing gets mixed.
How do you steam vegetables in an instant pot?
To the inner pot add around one cup of water and place the steamer basket instant pot to the inner pot. Place the steamer basket add the vegetables you would like to steam. Please make sure the vegetables are not touching the water in the inner pot else the vegetables will become soggy. Close the instant pot with the lid and valve from venting to sealing mode. Use the steam option to make Instant pot steamed vegetables.
How do you steam veggies in instant pot without basket?
The best way to steam the vegetables in instant pot without steamer basket is using the trivet with less water or a tall trivet .I use this method sometimes to steam potatoes in instant pot.
How long does it take to steam veggies in instant pot?
Vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage need just 0 minutes to steam in the instant pot. Hard and root vegetables like potato, carrot, radish need more time.
I use 4 minutes as the standard time to cook any Instant pot steamed vegetables and see if it’s cooked properly based on that I will decide if I need to increase the time or not.

The base has holes that help in steaming. If you are going steam directly please use the trivet else the water will get into the steamer. This steamer with partition is definitely a perfect accessory with the instant pot. Because of the separator food is not getting mixed up.
I’m cooking my rice, lentil, and 3 different vegetables together at the same time. The layering inside the pot I do is base with rice then the lentil and then the steamer so the water from the vegetables will go into the lentil and its not wasted.

- 1 number potato
- 1 number green bell pepper
- 1 number red bell pepper
Turn on the instant pot to steam mode
Add one cup of water to the inner pot
Place the instant pot steamer basket. You can use any mode steamer basket to steam the Instant pot steamed vegetables
Add the vegetables of your choice and steam between 0-4 minutes. The steaming time depends on the vegetables you use.
Make sure the venting valve set to sealing.
Do a quick release after the steam process completes.
